I have discovered that a lack of blogging correlates strongly with a lack of running. Getting back into the habit of posting my training will hopefully result in me well... actually training more. With some big adventures looming in the not too distant future I had better tighten the belt, lace up the racing flats and get back out there. So here it goes...
Monday: 68 minutes (15.5km) - 4:28 pace
Got out for a cruise around Nepean River and the hills around Leonay. Nice run.
Food: green smoothie (apples + greens), 1kg grapes, 4 apples, 3 bananas, 1 orange, almonds, carrots w/ almond butter, sweet rice (brown rice, spices, raisins)
Tuesday: 64 minutes (12.6km) - 5:07 pace
Met up with Sean for a loop around the local streets of Penrith, Emu Plains and Leonay. Went up and down some hills and finished with a fast km (3:26) along the last stretch back to the car. Felt lethargic at the start but felt better and better as the run went on.
Food: oatmeal w/ raisins, coconut, flax seed, berries, 1 banana, 1kg grapes, 4 oranges, 6 dates, 50g walnuts, large salad.
Wednesday: 40 minutes (~9km)
Squeezed in a run before having to attend an all day training session on diversity. Legs felt tired.
Thursday: probably nothing :: 90 minute walk with family
With my wife's work farewell scheduled for last night I am expecting a serious lack of ability to run today. Drank more last night than I have in about seven years. Added together with more time spent driving around than sleeping and just getting through work today is going to be a challenge.
Funny that no one recognised me straight away last night as I have lost quite a lot of weight since I worked with them (about 20-30kg) about 8 years ago. I also no longer smoke and aside from last night I don't normally drink except on rare ocassions. Last night was one of those ocassions.
The only thing I could stomach this morning was oranges... cool and sweet!
Friday: 79 minutes (17.4km) - 4:34 pace
A good run around the river and up again into the hills of Leonay. Checked out a few of the side streets. Nice and steady run. Was actually warm out there today.
Food: green smoothie (oranges, banana, greens); grapes & almonds; apples & dahl; apples & almonds; large salad.
Saturday: 29:40 (7.1km) - 4:12 pace
Steady run around the streets. Took the first km easy and ran the next 5km at under 4min pace before a 1k cooldown on the hills.
Sunday: 1:09:53 (14.85km) - 4:42 pace
Planned to go out for a long run but felt completely crappy. Gave myself an hour of running to see if things would come good but they got progressively worse. Headed up to Sean's for a post-W2G gathering but still felt ordinary and headed home.
Not the best week of training but not the worst either. Hope next week is better.
