humm...

humm food: real food that creates an unmistakable feeling of health and well-being, often accompanied by an inexplicable and irresistible urge to, well, hum.

that was what i read on the back of the larabar (pecan pie) i just ate and it made me feel good. i even hummed...

unfortunately the only thing that made me hum today was the lara bar as my run was rather ordinary. another sick child, a late night hospital visit and a lack of sleep over a couple of nights has left me feeling a little buggered. but things are hopefully turning around...
training:

on the training front things went down hill last week (so to speak) but i did manage to put in three quality workouts starting with a double descent-ascent of kedumba pass last saturday (25th april) that left me feeling awesome and wanting more. monday and tuesday was the typical run to work and back for about 25k a day of running. thursday i met simon for a little hare street hill workout where i tried running the ups and downs hard. friday was another hard hill run where i ran from the river up to glenbrook via the trails and back down through knapsack gully stairs and down mitchells pass finishing with 3k of tempo along the river back to work for about 90 mins total.

returning home on friday afternoon i encountered a sick child and with a night spent dealing with hallucinations and fevers very little sleep was had and thoughts of an early morning wake up were replaced with the desire to catch as much sleep as we could. i thought taking two days off while not planned would be ok as i planned on getting up early today (monday) and running my last long run. well sitting in the hospital at katoomba last night and getting home and into bed with only two hours remaining before the alarm was scheduled to go off well..... perhaps i should have used it for training to run the final stages of the race when i am feeling tired and sleepy...
